Join us Wednesday, August 4th for the last general meeting of the summer! Working Bikes will be hosting a hybrid meeting, with the opportunity for attendants to join us via Zoom (link below) and in person (fully vaccinated individuals only).
Taylor Jones of Bikes for the World (our friend and close partner in the used-bikes-as-tools-of-empowerment-abroad world) will be providing an update on their work. We’ll also be hearing from folks at Beaubien Woods Forest Preserve to learn how bikes fixed by WB volunteers are being put to use. Upcoming group ride announcements and early planning details for the 22nd Anniversary Party will also be discussed so do not miss out! Check out our minutes from the June General Meeting, as well as the upcoming agenda below.
We’ll be gathering in person starting at 6:30, with the meeting beginning promptly at 7:15pm. See you next week!
The June General Meeting is coming up next week! In addition to hosting the meeting on Zoom (link below), we’ll also be welcoming folks back into the Working Bikes warehouse for a hybrid meeting set-up.
Only fully vaccinated (2 weeks post 2nd shot) folks will be allowed to attend in person the evening of Wednesday, June 2nd. The option of virtual attendance via Zoom meeting will continue for anyone interested. Vaccinated attendees will not need to wear masks while at the meeting, and we’ll be back at our old potluck ways.
This meeting should be as action packed and exciting as the past few, with a guest presentation from Pha’tal and Lyana of Think Outside Da Block about their work in Englewood (and if you don’t get enough Pha’tal at the WB meeting, you can catch him on June 3rd talking about building bike culture). And our very own Steve Irwin, Doctor of Tubes and Keeper of Books, fresh off a trip to kindred-spirit-org Bicitekas in Mexico City will share some about his experience.
We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday at 7:15pm!
The second meeting of 2021 is coming up on Wednesday, April 7th! Join us via Zoom for a jam packed evening, with presentations from Pastor Reshorna Fitzpatrick, of Stone Temple Baptist Church in North Lawndale and NLCCC GROWSS and our very own Community Repairs Manager Xail Hernandez, fresh off a trip to visit our partners at CESTA in El Salvador. The meeting will start at 7:15pm – we hope to see you there!
It’s that time of year! The Working Bikes 2021 Annual Meeting is coming up on Wednesday, February 3rd. Join us virtually to review the successes and accomplishments of the previous year, and discuss upcoming projects and goals for 2021. We will also have two Community Partner Presentations from our friends at Africycle in Malawi and Boxing Out Negativity in North Lawndale. The meeting will start at 7:15pm – we hope to see you there!
The final General Meeting of 2020 is next week! We’ll be gathering virtually on Wednesday, December 2nd at 7:15pm to discuss shop updates, upcoming events, and much more. We’ll also be joined by Jesus Lopez from CESTA, who will be sharing updates from their community bike projects in El Salvador.

You can find all the items a week before the meetings. Last like month, the June meeting will be virtual, held via Zoom. The link to the Zoom event is also below. Just because we’ve had a snowy April doesn’t mean we still can’t celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day! All throughout the week of April 20th, folks can virtually attend the One Earth Film Festival. Working Bikes will be tuning in for the screening of “Why We Cycle,” a film about Dutch cycling culture at the personal and city-planning level. Following the Friday evening film, Working Bikes and other attendees will participate in a brief Zoom discussion.
RSVP for the screening and the post-film discussion here! We’re looking forward to (virtually) seeing you!
